Theory test — Business class
The Business entry test covers on-demand IFR operations in light jets and high-performance turboprops. Single-pilot CRM, RNAV / RNP arrivals, FL280–FL410 cruise considerations, owner-flown realities. 10 questions, 70% to pass.
What it covers
The starter aircraft is the DA62; the milestone tree opens up the TBM 930 and the Citation CJ4. Operations are point-to-point IFR, often into smaller business-aviation FBOs rather than air-carrier hubs. Single-pilot, owner-flown, where the same person plans, flies, and deals with the controller.
Topics
- IFR flight planning. Filing, alternate selection, fuel planning, MEA / MOCA / MORA.
- RNAV / RNP approaches. LPV / LNAV / VNAV minima; what each requires equipment-wise.
- High-altitude operations. Mach buffet, coffin corner, oxygen requirements, pressurization basics.
- Single-pilot CRM. Workload management, automation use, when to ask ATC for help.
- Icing. Boot vs TKS vs hot-wing; how to use each correctly; when to leave.
- Wake turbulence. Avoidance behind heavies on departure and approach.
