Introduction
vCareer is a career-progression layer on top of VATSIM. It turns
free-form online flying into a structured RPG-style game: pick a class,
pass a theory test, fly missions generated from live ATC and weather, earn
∀Cred and XP, climb tiers, buy type ratings.
What vCareer is
A web app you sign into with your VATSIM CID. It reads your VATSIM track — the live data feed plus your historical sessions — and turns the network you already fly on into a progression system. You play it in a browser; you fly it in your own sim, on VATSIM, exactly the way you do today.
Six classes — Bush, Business, Charter, Small Airline, Cargo, Long Haul — each with its own five-tier ladder (T1 → T5) and its own short entry test. None of them gate the others: you can hold T5 Bush and T1 Long Haul at the same time.
What it isn't
- Not a flight tracker. Use Volanta, simBrief, or your existing logbook for that. We don't replace them.
- Not an EFB or chart provider. Bring your own (Navigraph, ForeFlight). vCareer points you to the right page — it doesn't render charts.
- Not a training course. Theory tests are knowledge checks linked to public references (SkyBrary, FAA handbooks). We don't author training material.
- Not pay-to-progress. ∀Cred is in-game only. We don't sell it, you can't trade it, and there is no premium currency.
The core loop
- Pass a class entry test — 10 questions, 70% to pass,
∀1,000per attempt (refunded on pass). - Pick a mission from the board. 8–12 are generated for your tier, your declared aircraft, and current ATC + METAR. They expire.
- Fly the mission on your sim, on VATSIM, exactly as you would otherwise.
- Completion is verified server-side from your VATSIM track. ∀Cred and XP are awarded with multipliers stacked.
- Spend ∀Cred on type ratings to expand what missions you can be offered. Accumulated XP advances your tier inside a class.
Where to next
- Classes & tiers — what the six classes feel like, how the ladder works.
- Missions — how generation reacts to live ATC and weather.
- Economy & ∀Cred — the reward formula, anchor values, and how XP differs from ∀Cred.
- Privacy & data handling — what we store, what we don't.
